Aviation Maintenance Administration

EFSC's Aviation Maintenance Administration Associate in Science degree program prepares students who are seeking employment as a supervisor or frontline manager in the aviation maintenance industry. Potential employment opportunities include maintenance and repair facilities, corporate or airline maintenance operations, and similar aviation fields.

More than 769,000 new aviation maintenance technicians will be needed to help service the world aviation fleet over the next 20 years according to the 2019 Boeing Pilot & Technician Outlook, a respected industry forecast of personnel demand. And that demand includes not only those with A & P training, but also graduates educated in aviation management.

The 60-credit hour A.S. degree curriculum includes 33 hours of articulated credit for for those students who hold active FAA Mechanic Certification with Airframe and PowerPlant Ratings OR who provide a certificate of completion of Aircraft Airframe Mechanics and Aircraft PowerPlant Mechanics from an FAA-approved certificate program in good standing. Graduates of EFSC's Aviation Maintenance Technology program are eligible to apply for the A.S. degree to add management skills to their resume.

The additional 27 hours of coursework covers communications and leadership skills; how to direct, plan and control job tasks; human relations and employability skills; plus safe and efficient work practices. Students also will be provided with information on how to obtain FAA certification as an Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT).

The A.S. degree is a limited access program and requires a specialized program application process.
