A.S. Degree to Bachelor's Degree Pathways

Did you know the Associate in Science degree can lead to a Bachelor's degree? This includes a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.


  • A.S. degree courses apply to the career field you are interested in pursuing.
  • These courses provide valuable skill sets and industry certifications that allow you to work in the career field.
  • A.S. to Bachelor degree programs often continue with related program courses to advance your knowledge in the career area.
  • A.S. to Bachelor degree programs allow you to work on your general education while taking upper division courses that are specific to the major. (Check with the transfer college or university for appropriate general education course requirements.)

Florida State College at Jacksonville offers a B.S. in Early Childhood Education!

The A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education can transfer to the B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education (pre-K to 3rd grade teacher certification) at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) for B.S. level courses with the final student teaching course to be done at an approved elementary or preschool.
FSCJ acceptance requirements:
1) A.S. Early Childhood completed with 2.5 GPA or better
2) Pass the Florida Teacher Certification Examination – General Knowledge Test (all four sections)
3) Pass EDF 1005 with “C” or better
4) Apply to FSCJ (general application) and to the Education B.S. program

A.A. students may also transfer to FSCJ's B.S. in Early Childhood Education if they pass the following with “C” or better: EEC 1701, EEC 1200, EEC 1601, EEC 2217, EEX 2010, EEC 1942, EEC 2233, EEC 2710
