Associate in Arts Pathway to a Bachelor's in Art

This transfer GPS prepares students to pursue a four-year degree in Art at a Florida public university or Florida College System (FCS) institution. Courses listed are common prerequisites for an Art major at the bachelor's level and will satisfy the general education and elective credits within Eastern Florida State College's A.A. degree program. For more information on common prerequisites, check the statewide advising manual at floridashines.org.

Adjust your pace to graduation by taking more or fewer classes each term or attending year-round. This transfer GPS is a guideline and does not guarantee admission to a college or university. Requirements for an art degree may vary by institution and can change each year. Students are encouraged to consult an EFSC advisor and check with the advising or admissions office at the intended transfer institution.

Possible Concentrations at the University: Animation, Art History, Art Therapy, Ceramics, Creative Photography, Drawing, Game Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Painting, Studio Art, Web Design.
Potential Careers: Art Teacher, Art Therapist, Gallery Owner, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Photographer, Professional Artist.

Foreign Language Requirement: Students must demonstrate competency in a foreign language at a level equal to two years of high school world language (sequential, in the same language) or American Sign Language coursework. This is pursuant to F.S. 1007.262.

Civic Literacy Competency: Per F.S. 1007.25 (4) - Beginning with students initially entering a Florida College System institution or state university in the 2018-2019 school year and thereafter, each student must demonstrate competency in civic literacy.

• This pathway is for planning purposes only; it does not guarantee admission to a college or university. Following the suggested course sequence for completion will better prepare you for transfer and acceptance. Following the plan will minimize extra courses that may impact you financially.
• Courses identified by PATHWAY COURSE are recommended or a required prerequisite for admission into the bachelor’s degree.
• Some courses have prerequisites that may increase the time and credits required to complete the degree.
• Art Electives are (ARTC 1750, 2500, 2553, 2540, 2701, 2400). Please Note: Depending on your intended Bachelor’s degree specialization, work with your EFSC advisor and the advisor at the College or University you plan to attend to choose appropriate prerequisite electives as part of your AA planning.
• ARTC 1203 - 3-D Design is only offered once a year
• Students are advised to contact the Visual Art Department they plan to transfer to about what courses they should take and that will transfer. Requirements for admissions can change from time to time; this includes change of faculty.
