How to enroll at Eastern Florida State College
If Eastern Florida is the first college or university you will attend you’re in the right place. This means you’ve never attended another college and will seek a degree or certificate at Eastern Florida State College (EFSC). You are a high school graduate, will be a high school graduate in the term you plan to enter Eastern Florida or have a state-issued GED. Eastern Florida offers a variety of degree and certificate programs designed to help you transfer to a four-year college or go directly into the workforce. Also, we offer many non-credit courses for students who simply wish to upgrade their skills.
Follow the steps below as you plan your EFSC educational career – and remember once you get through Step 2 and are accepted to EFSC, you can take care of many of the next steps simultaneously to keep the process moving.

Steps to Enrollment
Step 1: Explore EFSC Campuses, Deadlines and our Degrees & Programs.
Before you even apply, you want to learn more about EFSC’s four campuses and the degrees and programs that interest you, including Eastern Florida Online programs. Think about your career aspirations and how your course of study can help you achieve
your goals. Our interactive Explore Your Options page will help you sort through our degrees and programs and you can view the whole
list of choices in one place on our Degrees and Certificates page.

Check admissions deadlines for the term you plan to start classes and review the EFSC Academic Calendar for more important dates.

Step 2: Apply for Admission and provide proof of residency.
For determining residency, the Florida Residency Guidelines, will walk you through the process and required Declaration. This same Declaration is used by non-Florida residents to declare that classification. Be sure to follow up and submit the residency supporting documents to the EFSC campus you select as your primary campus. Campus admission office addresses are on the Residency Information sheet and on our main admissions contact page.
You can pay the one-time, non-refundable $30 application fee online by credit card or in person by cash or check. If paying in person you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to pay the fee by cash or check at a Campus Cashiers office.
Note for High School Dual Enrollment/ Early Admissions students: Do not submit a new application for admission after you graduate high school. If you submit an online application at any time, you will be assessed a non-refundable $30 application fee. Please note that applications are processed in the order they were received and application processing time may take up to seven days. Check your email frequently for your acceptance letter.
Step 3: Request your final, official high school transcript to be sent to your primary campus.
A final, official High School transcript indicating date of graduation, GED transcript or Homeschool Graduation Affadavit is required for registration into college courses. Florida public high school transcripts should be sent electronically when possible. If an official transcript must be mailed from your school, ask that they be sent to the EFSC campus you consider your primary campus. Please note: Financial Aid will not be awarded until the official high school transcript is received and evaluated.

Step 4: Complete Assessment and Placement Testing.
To determine if your degree or certificate program requires placement testing, please review the EFSC Catalog Programs & Admissions Requirements. You can also find information about Placement Testing requirements for college credit courses in that section of our website.
If you’ve taken the SAT/ACT and your scores are less than two years old or if you’ve completed college level English and math courses with a grade of “C” or higher, have your official test score reports and/or official transcripts sent to your primary campus.
No scores or previous college? No problem. Eastern Florida offers College-Credit and Vocational Credit testing, which you can explore at our Placement Testing website. Step 5: Complete orientation and meet with an advisor.
Orientation is mandatory for all first time in college students, transfer students, re-admit students, non-degree students who have not earned an associate degree or higher and recommended for all students. It’s an introduction to life at Eastern Florida. Learn how to access our online orientation system.
Likewise, it’s a very good idea to meet with an Academic Advisor to review Placement Test scores, develop an educational plan, schedule classes and address other academic concerns. All degree-seeking students should meet with an advisor to develop an educational progression plan. Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor every term to monitor progress.
Accepted students are assigned an advisor once they complete all enrollment steps and this advisor is then listed in the myGPS Degree Audit tool. Contact your assigned advisor via email or phone to schedule an appointment.

Step 6: Apply for Financial Aid.
Once you’ve been accepted as an Eastern Florida student, you should start the process of applying for financial aid – and you must reapply each year. Every EFSC student should apply because the only way to find out if you’re eligible is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Step 7: Register for classes, pay your fees, get your Student ID card, parking decal & books.
- Registering for classes online is the easiest way to go if you do not have any holds on your account. Visit the Class Schedule for current course listings. You can also register for classes in-person at any campus Advising office.
- If you are a graduating high school senior, you may be eligible to register for summer term courses at EFSC before the College receives your final transcript with graduation date. Brevard Public School students should contact their high school guidance counselor to discuss the process and form required to register pending final transcripts. Private school and home school students should contact EFSC Admissions to discuss the potential options.
- Check out the Tuition & Fees section for information on paying fees by the deadline.
- Student ID cards are available at any EFSC Campus Security Office for free by presenting your class registration and a photo ID. This ID also will be your library card and replacing a lost card costs $10.
- A Student Parking Permit is required to park on any EFSC Campus. The annual cost is $40 (plus tax) for a decal that covers Fall, Spring and Summer terms each academic year and $20 (plus tax) for a decal purchased in a Spring or Summer term that covers both terms. Getting the permit involves a two-step process to generate a temporary permit online and then pick up the permit at your campus security office.
- Bookstores are located on all four campuses. At least 30 days prior to the first day of class for each term, EFSC posts a list of each textbook required for each course offered at the institution during the upcoming term. You can find the list at the bookstore website's "Find Textbooks" page, which will include the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for each required textbook or other identifying information, the title, all authors listed, publishers, edition number, copyright date and published date. Check with Financial Aid about help paying for books and check the Book Allowance availability schedule.
